Tales from the Appalachian Trail of service & sustainability, good people, and the bewildering cycle of life!

The stoves are in!

I learned about Anti Gravity Gear from a wise mentor of mine in the Appalachian Trail community.  Antigravitygear.com is a website that specializes in ultralight backpacking gear.  Al and I decided that the best option for a light weight stove is an alcohol stove; it weighs only .4 oz!  The stoves are made from 100% post-consumer recycled products (12 oz aluminum soda cans).  It operates by using 1 to 2 oz of denatured alcohol and when ignited the stove can boil 2 cups of water in 5 minutes.

Below is a picture of the pot set that we each purchased.  It includes a pot/lid with neoprene cozy, as well as a wind screen, pot grip, fuel bottle, camp towel, and pot scrubby.  The total weight of the entire set is 11.3 oz.

Stay tuned as we gather the last of our gear necessities.  2 months until go-time!

Cheers,
Maura
